Description
Brancaia “Il Blu” 2019 is the winery’s flagship wine, a vintage that has been celebrated as one of the best of the decade for balance and aging potential. It is a modern Super Tuscan that was born in the heart of Chianti Classico (Radda and Castellina), but looks to the great international models.
Here is the summary profile:
Organoleptic Profile
-
Color: Intense and deep ruby red.
-
Nose: The bouquet is of great precision and cleanliness. There are notes of black cherry, plum and small red fruits, followed by elegant hints of sweet spices, dark chocolate and licorice.
-
Taste: In the mouth it is majestic but incredibly balanced. The sip is full, with silky smooth tannins and a mineral freshness that makes for a dynamic drink. The finish is very long and recalls cocoa and graphite.
Technical Characteristics
-
Grape varieties: 80% Merlot, 10% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
-
Aging: Matures for 20 months in French oak barrels (80 percent of which are new), followed by at least one year of bottle aging.
-
2019 vintage: A “classic” and regular season that allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and fully, giving the wine a perfect harmony between alcoholic structure and acidity.
In summary
Blu 2019 is the definition of harmony. It is a dense, structured wine that is never heavy, however, thanks to a stylistic refinement that makes it one of the most admired reds in contemporary Tuscany.
Ideal pairing: High quality red meats (green pepper filet, tagliata), feathered game or blue and aged cheeses.
