Description
Castellare di Castellina ‘s Chianti Classico 2024 is a wine that embodies the freshness and vibrancy of the latest vintage. Labeled with the customary endangered bird (which changes every year to symbolize the commitment to pesticide-free farming), it represents the winery’s “vintage” style: lean, snappy and deeply rooted in tradition.
Here is the profile of this very young vintage:
Organoleptic Profile
-
Color: Vivid ruby red with bright violet hues, a sign of extreme youth.
-
Nose: A crisp nose dominated by morello cherry and raspberry. There are classic notes of violets and a light fresh spice (white pepper) that makes it very inviting.
-
Taste: In the mouth, this is a wine of great drinkability and dynamism. The acidity is the protagonist, making the sip fresh and clean, with tannins present but already gentle and well integrated.
Technical Characteristics
-
Grapes: 95% Sangioveto and 5% Canaiolo. Castellare continues its cultural battle by avoiding international grape varieties to preserve the authentic taste of Chianti.
-
Aging: Matures for about 7 months in second and third passage barriques. It does not seek the concentration of wood, only the stability and micro-oxygenation necessary to refine the Sangiovese.
-
Vintage 2024: Characterized by a nice temperature range, it gave very fragrant wines with a balanced alcohol content, ideal for those seeking “looseness” in the glass.
Recommended pairings
It is the perfect companion for everyday dining and conviviality:
-
First courses: Pasta with Tuscan meat sauce, pici all’aglione or classic lasagna.
-
Secondi: Grilled meats, rosticciana (pork ribs) or sliced beef with arugula and grana cheese.
-
Cold cuts: Chopping boards of finocchiona, Tuscan salami and fresh pecorino.
Summary: If the Riserva di Castellare is the wine of reflection, the 2024 vintage is the wine of immediate pleasure. It is a naked and raw Sangiovese, elegant in its simplicity, perfectly expressing the terroir of Castellina in Chianti.
Since this is a newly released wine, it would serve it at a slightly cooler temperature (about 16°C) to enhance the fragrance of the fruit.
