Description
De’ Ricci winery’s Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2022 is a masterful expression of Sangiovese (here called Prugnolo Gentile) that is born in one of the world’s most spectacular and historic wineries, carved into the tuff beneath the center of Montepulciano.
The 2022 vintage was characterized by warm, dry weather, which yielded a wine with great structure, extractive richness and particularly ripe fruit.
Sensory Profile
View
It has a deep ruby red color, very clear, which will tend to deep garnet hues with aging.
Olfaction
The nose is broad and enveloping. The dominant notes are those of morello cherry and ripe plum, typical of the grape variety, accompanied by elegant floral hints of violets. Wood aging (about 12-15 months in oak barrels) discreetly emerges through nuances of:
-
Sweet tobacco
-
Leather
-
Light spices (black pepper and a touch of vanilla)
Taste
On the palate it is a wine with great body and warmth. Despite the sunny vintage, it maintains a good freshness that balances the alcohol content. The tannins are present but already well polished and silky, leading toward a long, savory and pleasantly almondy finish.

In summary
De’ Ricci Nobile 2022 is a wine that combines the aristocratic tradition of Montepulciano with a modern softness. It is already enjoyable now because of its fruit component, but it has the potential to evolve beautifully in the cellar for the next 10-15 years.
Do you already have this bottle in your cellar or are you thinking of buying it for a special occasion?
