Description
Argiano ‘s Solengo 2022 is one of Montalcino’s most celebrated “Super Tuscans.” Originally created by the hand of winemaker Giacomo Tachis, it is a blend with an international scope that in this warm and bright vintage expresses extraordinary power combined with surprising drinkability.
Here are the main features:
Organoleptic Profile
-
Color: Very dark, almost impenetrable ruby red with violet hues.
-
Nose: The bouquet is broad and deep. Ripe black fruits (blackberry, plum, blackcurrant) crisply emerge intertwined with notes of underbrush, Mediterranean scrub and sweet spices such as vanilla, chocolate and tobacco, derived from the wood.
-
Taste: This is a “muscular” but incredibly velvety wine. The tannins are dense and silky, with an impressive concentration of fruit. Despite the heat of the vintage, it retains a balsamic freshness that lengthens the finish, making it elegant and never heavy.
Technical Characteristics
-
Grape varieties: Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese.
-
Vinification: Separate fermentations for each variety in concrete vats.
-
Aging: It matures for about 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new, 40% second-passage), which define its modern, international character.
-
2022 vintage: A dry and hot year that yielded very healthy and concentrated grapes, producing one of the richest and most opulent Solengo ever, already enjoyable but with aging potential of more than 15-20 years.
In summary
Solengo 2022 is the wine of “controlled power.” It is perfect for those who like structured, enveloping and modern reds, where the precision of the fruit blends with the nobility of French wood.
Ideal pairing: Large roasts of red meat, game (wild boar, venison), dishes enriched with black truffle or very mature cheeses.
