Description
Tenuta San Guido’s Sassicaia 2020 is a vintage that shines in balance and pleasantness, while retaining that usual aristocratic elegance that has made this Bolgheri famous the world over.
Compared to the power of the 2019 or the structure of the 2021, the 2020 is often described as silky, vibrant, and very territorial.
Sensory Profile
-
Color: Intense ruby red, deep and bright.
-
Nose: The bouquet is extremely clean and varietal. Prominent notes of red and black fruits (black currant, black cherry) intertwined with hints of typical Mediterranean herbs, lavender, and a mineral touch of graphite. There is no shortage of sweet spice and tobacco nuances from the skillful aging in wood.
-
Palate: In the mouth it is an example of harmony. The tannins are dense but incredibly smooth (“velvety”). It has a freshness (acidity) that gives verticality and a very long persistence, closing on notes of berries and a slight saline appeal.
