Description
Michele Satta ‘s GiovinRe 2016 is one of Bolgheri’s most iconic and original whites, born out of a bet (won) to produce a great wine from pure Viognier grapes in a land of great reds.
Here is a brief description of the profile:
Organoleptic Profile
-
Color: Intense straw yellow with brilliant golden hues.
-
Nose: Broad and complex. Hints of ripe apricot, yellow peach and citrus zest stand out, accompanied by floral nuances of hawthorn and a mineral/hydrocarburic touch typical of the varietal’s evolution.
-
Taste: In the mouth it is enveloping and almost “oily,” but supported by a vibrant freshness. The structure is important, with a long finish reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub and honey.
Technical Characteristics
-
Varietal: 100% Viognier.
-
Vinification: Fermentation in oak barrels (not new) and aging on fine lees for about 6-9 months, which adds complexity without covering the fruit.
-
Vintage 2016: Considered exceptional in Bolgheri, it allowed perfect aromatic ripeness combined with excellent acidity, giving the wine a longevity above the average for Italian whites.
In short: This is a wine with great personality, ideal for those looking for a structured white wine that can compete with the great international crus. It pairs beautifully with elaborate fish dishes, spicy white meats or medium-aged cheeses.
